The ARB® Air Locker RD114 is a pneumatically activated rear locking differential engineered for the GM Full Float 14-Bolt 10.5″ axle, fitting a wide range of Chevrolet and GMC 2500 and 3500 HD trucks, vans, and SUVs from 1985 through 2013 across all available gear ratios with a 30-spline, 1.56″ axle shaft.
IMPORTANT: An air compressor is required to operate the ARB Air Locker and is sold separately. Confirm your axle is the GM Full Float 14-Bolt 10.5″ (FF) configuration before ordering. This unit is designed for the full-float rear axle only and will not fit semi-float variants.
The ARB Air Locker is the world’s premier on-demand traction system, delivering 100 percent differential lock precisely when the driver commands it — and reverting to fully open differential behavior the moment it is disengaged. When locked, the Air Locker prevents the internal differential gears from rotating relative to each other, forcing both rear wheels to turn in direct unison with the ring gear. The result is maximum possible traction on any surface, regardless of wheel loading or terrain angle. When unlocked, the axle functions as a conventional open differential with no impact on road manners, fuel economy, or driveline wear.
The locking mechanism is pneumatically operated, driven by a solenoid valve and routed airline connected to the vehicle’s on-board air compressor. Activation is handled from the driver’s seat via the included switch — no need to exit the vehicle, select low range, or reduce speed. ARB’s patented “timed” locking geometry allows the locker to engage and, critically, to disengage with high speed and reliability even under load. The steel-reinforced, elastomer-bonded annular seal is rated for extreme climatic temperature ranges, ensuring consistent sealing performance whether operating in sub-zero conditions or desert heat.
The Air Locker’s two-piece carrier design minimizes moving parts while maximizing structural strength. All internal components are machined from high-grade steel, and the assembly is built to ARB’s exacting tolerances for long service life under repeated off-road use. The RD114 carries ARB’s 5-year warranty and ships as a complete kit including the Air Locker differential, activation switch, solenoid valve, airline, and bulkhead fitting.
