Description
The FOX® 983-02-148 is a Factory Race Series 2.0 ATS (Adjustable Through Shaft) steering stabilizer with an axle-mount top mount and eyelet bottom mount, fitting 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler (JL) and 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator (JT).
IMPORTANT: This stabilizer is built specifically for axle-mount steering stabilizer applications, as confirmed on the FOX® spec sheet (Top Mount: Axle Mount / Bottom Mount: Eyelet). Confirm your Wrangler or Gladiator uses an axle-mount stabilizer configuration before ordering, as FOX® offers separate stabilizer part numbers for different mounting configurations on the same platform.
Conventional steering stabilizers create a push-or-pull steering force as the shaft occupies more volume in the body during a turn, displacing oil and building pressure in one direction. The FOX® 2.0 ATS Stabilizer eliminates this unidirectional force in a single, bolt-on unit rather than requiring dual opposing stabilizers and their added mounting hardware.
The Adjustable Through Shaft (ATS) architecture eliminates shaft fluid displacement throughout the stabilizer’s entire travel in both directions. An external piggyback reservoir adds fluid capacity and uses an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) to separate fluid from the nitrogen gas charge, eliminating cavitation.
An external adjuster provides 24 clicks of compression adjustment, allowing the damping feel to be tailored to driving style and vehicle setup for consistent control of unwanted steering feedback.
The body is 2.0″ impact-extruded and CNC-machined 6061-T6 clear-anodized aluminum with a hard-anodized finish for corrosion resistance. Components are black-anodized, CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum, and the shaft is 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel. A redundant sealing pack — main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal — protects internal components. This stabilizer is backed by FOX’s Truck & Motorsports suspension product warranty.
