The FOX® 883-26-116 Performance Elite 2.5 Series Rear Shock Pair with external DSC reservoirs is engineered for a 2-3in rear lift height and fits 2003-2024 Toyota 4Runner and 2007-2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser models.
IMPORTANT: This application requires Extended Sway Bar Links for proper fitment and operation — these are not included and must be purchased separately. This is the 2-3in lift height rear shock pair; do not confuse it with FOX® 883-26-115, the 0-1.5in lift height Performance Elite rear shock pair for the same platform, or with FOX® 883-26-145, the Factory Race Series internal bypass rear shock pair (also 2-3in lift) which uses different internal damping technology.
FOX® Performance Elite Series shocks correct the stock 4Runner platform’s forward rake, deliver a level ride height without sacrificing droop travel, and increase rear suspension articulation for improved off-road capability and on-road comfort.
Each shock uses a 2.5in impact-extruded and CNC-machined 6061-T6 Type III anodized aluminum body for corrosion and wear resistance, paired with a 2.5in smooth bore, honed, seamless alloy external reservoir. The external reservoir increases oil capacity and dissipates heat more efficiently than a standard monotube design, so the shock maintains consistent damping performance over long, punishing runs. Reservoirs are strategically mounted to clear aggressive tire sizes at full steering lock.
Each shock is equipped with a Dual Speed Compression (DSC) adjuster, allowing on-the-fly tuning of high- and low-speed compression damping to match load, terrain, and driving style. Application-specific springs and vehicle-specific valving are matched to this platform, and 7/8in hard chrome-plated steel shafts run through a redundant sealing pack system — main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal — for long service life. This shock pair is built for the rear axle of 2003-2024 Toyota 4Runner and 2007-2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser applications running a 2-3in rear lift height, and requires Extended Sway Bar Links for proper fitment. This is not the correct part for a 0-1.5in lift setup (use FOX® 883-26-115) or for buyers seeking the Factory Race Series internal bypass shock (FOX® 883-26-145).
