The FOX® 987-24-002 is a 2.5 Performance Series smooth body front shock with Internal Floating Piston (IFP) and Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) technology, 8.19 inches of travel, built for 2005–2026 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks running 2.5″–3.5″ of front lift.
IMPORTANT: Lift height coverage on this SKU changes by model year — 2005–2019 trucks are rated for a 2.5″ lift, while 2020–2026 trucks are rated for 2.5″–3.5″ of lift. On 2020–2026 Tremor trim specifically, FOX® notes an additional 1″–1.5″ of lift on top of the base range. This unit ships with the universal mounting bracket included; no additional hardware is required for installation.
The 2.5 Performance Series HTO shock is a bolt-on unit loaded with position-sensitive technology, vehicle-specific valving, and a larger piston to improve both on- and off-road performance. The type II clear-anodized aluminum body efficiently dissipates heat and resists corrosion. Unlike FOX®’s 2.0 Series remote-reservoir shocks, this 2.5″ shock body uses no external reservoir or compression adjuster — it relies on an internal floating piston (IFP) to separate the shock oil from the high-pressure nitrogen charge, keeping the design simple while still delivering 2.5-inch-class damping performance.
Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) technology provides usable position-sensitive rebound damping control both on and off pavement. HTO reduces harsh top-outs and increases ride comfort by forcing shock oil through a secondary shim stack to slow shaft speed near full extension — a benefit that becomes especially noticeable after installing heavier, more aggressive tires or running a lift taller than OEM specification.
The shaft is 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, and the shock bolts on directly to increase damping capacity and ride comfort with position-sensitive rebound control. FOX® backs this shock with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
