Description
The FOX® 983-02-158 is a 2.0 ATS (Adjustable Through Shaft) steering stabilizer with axle-mount top clamp, engineered for 2013-2026 Ram 2500 and 3500 4WD trucks.
IMPORTANT: This is the axle-mount version of FOX®’s ATS stabilizer for the current-generation Ram 2500 (2014-2026) and 3500 (2013-2026) platform. It is not the same part as FOX® 983-02-147, which uses a tie-rod clamp mount and is built for the earlier 2008-2013 Ram 2500/3500 chassis. The two are not interchangeable — confirm your truck’s generation and stock tie-rod/axle configuration before ordering.
Conventional steering stabilizers develop a push-or-pull force as the shaft displaces oil unevenly when turning in one direction, which is why many trucks run dual opposing stabilizers to cancel it out. The FOX® ATS architecture eliminates that shaft fluid displacement through the stabilizer’s full travel in both directions, delivering consistent damping from a single, bolt-on unit instead of a dual-stabilizer setup.
An external piggyback reservoir adds fluid capacity and uses an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) to separate the shock oil from the nitrogen gas charge, eliminating cavitation under hard use. An external adjuster provides 24 clicks of damping adjustment so the feel can be tailored to driving style and setup.
The stabilizer body is 2.0″ metal-impacted 6061-T6 aluminum with a clear-anodized finish for corrosion resistance, and the black-anodized, CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum components are matched to a 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel shaft and a redundant sealing pack. Application-specific mounting hardware is included, and the unit is backed by FOX®’s suspension product warranty.
