Description
The FOX® Performance Series 2.0 shock, part number 980-24-959, is a 5.12″ travel, smooth-body Front shock with an external reservoir, engineered for front-position applications at 0″-1″ of lift on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 HD, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, Chevrolet Suburban 2500, GMC Sierra 1500 HD, GMC Sierra 2500, GMC Sierra 2500 HD, GMC Sierra 3500 HD, GMC Yukon XL 2500, Hummer H2 trucks covering the model years detailed below.
IMPORTANT: This part number covers 0″-1″ of lift only. FOX® offers this same front-position application at other lift heights under separate part numbers: 980-24-960 (4″-6″ on Silverado/Sierra HD trucks (3.5″-6.5″ on Avalanche 2500 — see fitment table) of lift); 980-24-961 (7″-9″ of lift). Double-check the lift height above against your build before ordering — these are not interchangeable. This listing is for the front shock only and is sold individually; it does not include the matching rear unit.
This is FOX®’s aluminum-bodied Performance Series 2.0 Reservoir smooth body shock, built to deliver race-proven damping performance in a bolt-on, hassle-free package. The impact-extruded, clear-anodized 6061-T6 aluminum shock body sheds heat faster than a conventional steel-body shock, helping stabilize damping performance on long, rough runs.
The external reservoir increases oil and nitrogen capacity over a standard monotube design, improving heat dissipation and maintaining consistent damping under repeated hard use. The black-anodized reservoir clamp and mounting hardware are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum.
The 5.12″ shaft is 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel, paired with FOX®’s race-developed high-flow piston and application-specific valving for predictable ride quality across rough terrain. A redundant sealing pack (main seal, wiper seal, scraper seal) protects the internals. Every FOX® Performance Series 2.0 shock is backed by FOX®’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
