Part number 985-24-056 is a FOX® 2.0 Performance Series smooth body reservoir shock with a stem top mount (aluminum), 8.12 in. of travel, and an eyelet bottom mount. This shock is sold individually for application-specific tuning and travel selection.
IMPORTANT: This shock uses a stem top mount, which is different from part number 985-24-051 — a FOX 2.0 Performance Series shock at the same 8.12 in. travel length but with eyelet top and bottom mounts. Confirm which top mount style your vehicle’s application requires before ordering, as these two part numbers are not interchangeable. Travel length and valving on this shock are tuned for a specific vehicle application; this shock is sold individually, not as a pair. It is also part of a broader travel-length family that includes 985-24-049 (5.12 in.), 985-24-050 (6.62 in.), 985-24-052 (10.12 in.), 985-24-054 (12.12 in.), and 985-24-055 (14.1 in.).
The FOX 2.0 Performance Series Reservoir shock delivers race-proven damping performance in a bolt-on, aluminum-bodied package. The 2.0 in. impact-extruded 6061-T6 aluminum body is clear-anodized and dissipates heat faster than a conventional steel-body shock, helping maintain consistent damping under sustained off-road use.
An external reservoir increases oil and nitrogen capacity over a standard twin-tube design, improving fade resistance on rough terrain while giving the shock a race-inspired look. The included billet reservoir mounting clamp and other hardware are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in black anodizing.
A race-developed high-flow damping piston is paired with application-specific valving to deliver predictable ride quality across rough road conditions. The shock uses a 5/8 in. hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel shaft and a redundant sealing pack (main seal, wiper seal, scraper seal) for long service life. FOX backs this shock with a limited lifetime warranty.
