The FOX® 987-24-029 is a 2.5 Performance Series smooth body IFP rear shock for 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (excluding Trail Boss and AT4 trims), delivering 0″-2″ of rear lift with a larger 2.5″ shock body and no reservoir or compression adjuster.
IMPORTANT: This rear shock is not available for Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, or AT4 trims – those trims are not covered by this fitment and no equivalent 2.5 Performance Series rear shock is offered for them at this time. If you are also ordering a front shock for a Trail Boss or AT4 truck, note that FOX® front shock 985-02-156 does cover those trims at 1.5″ lift, but this rear shock does not pair with it on Trail Boss/AT4 applications – confirm rear coverage separately before ordering a full set. This is an individual (single) shock, sold one per package – order two for a complete rear pair.
This is a Performance Series 2.5 IFP smooth body rear shock, engineered by FOX® to deliver the benefits of a larger 2.5″ shock body without the complexity of a reservoir or compression adjuster – a straightforward bolt-on for improved on- and off-road damping at exceptional value.
The precision, metal impact-extruded aluminum body increases cooling capacity and resists rust. Inside is race-proven performance valving technology: an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) mono-tube design separates the shock oil from the high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber, eliminating oil aeration so the factory-tuned, precision valving performs at its best.
A race-developed, high-flow damping piston matched with application-specific valving gives this shock a predictable ride quality capable of handling rough road conditions in even the toughest off-road use. This shock is backed by a FOX® Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This rear shock covers 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 standard trims at 0″-2″ of rear lift, using a larger 2.5″ smooth body design. Trail Boss and AT4 trims are excluded from this rear shock’s fitment – there is currently no 2.5 Performance Series rear equivalent for those trims.
