Part number 981-20-040 is the FOX Factory Race Series 2.0 x 2.0 bump stop with a 1-1/4in. hard chrome plated shaft and a pinch-style top mount, delivering 2 inches of internal travel for precise, adjustable bottoming control on the last few inches of suspension travel.
IMPORTANT: This is a stand-alone bump stop component, not a vehicle-specific kit. Confirm your application’s available mounting clearance, shaft diameter (1-1/4in.), and travel requirement (2in.) against your existing bump stop mount or fabricated bracket before ordering. This bump stop uses a pinch-style top mount (bottom mount: none) and is sold individually.
FOX Factory Race Series bump stops were developed alongside top off-road racing teams to give drivers precise control over the final portion of suspension travel. Rather than relying on a passive rubber or foam bump stop, this unit is a purpose-built, stand-alone damping component that lets you use every bit of available suspension travel without harsh, jarring bottom-outs.
A built-in FOX Air Valve (FAV) allows precise nitrogen charge adjustments, giving the driver a wide, tunable range of bottoming control to match the terrain, vehicle weight, and driving style. The valve is externally serviceable, so bottoming resistance can be fine-tuned without disassembling the unit.
Construction starts with a hard chrome plated 4130 chromoly steel shaft for durability and smooth operation, paired with black anodized CNC-machined aluminum components. A new proprietary Cerakote protective ceramic coating is applied over a zinc-plated basecoat (FOX Grey Cerakote) for corrosion and abrasion resistance in the FOX Grey finish. The unit is owner serviceable and rebuildable, and the strike pad is replaceable to extend service life. Backed by FOX’s suspension product warranty.
