Description

The FOX 983-02-085 is a 2.0 Performance Series IFP coilover shock (aluminum body) designed as a front, bolt-on replacement for the Ford Ranger T6, providing 0″-2″ of lift with no modifications required.

IMPORTANT: This coilover is sold individually (one unit per package, front position only) and covers the Ford Ranger T6 platform, not the North American Ford Ranger reintroduced for 2019+. Fitment is split between two coverage groups that do not follow a simple year range: certain T6 4WD trims fit across all T6 models, while other trims fit Hi-Rider (raised-height 2WD) models only. Confirm your exact model year, trim, and drivetrain against the fitment table below before ordering, as fitment does not extend to non-Hi-Rider 2WD Ranger trims outside the years and trims listed.

Built for daily-driven and off-road T6 Rangers that want improved ride quality and a leveled stance without permanent modification, this coilover bolts directly to factory mounting points and re-uses the stock upper mount location while raising front ride height 0″ to 2″ depending on preload setting.

The shock body is a 2.0″ impact-extruded, CNC-machined 6061-T6 clear-anodized aluminum one-piece design that increases cooling capacity and resists corrosion. Internally, an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) monotube design separates shock oil from a high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber, eliminating oil aeration so the factory-tuned, application-specific valving can perform consistently under load. The vehicle-specific upper mount uses a composite bushing to isolate noise and vibration from the cabin.

Ride height and spring preload are adjustable through locking, threaded spring preload rings that retain a top-quality racing coil selected to deliver the correct spring rate for the application. This allows the front end to be leveled front-to-rear and fine-tuned within the 0″-2″ lift range without swapping components.

The shaft is 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel, running through a redundant sealing pack (main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal) supported by large-diameter, heavy-duty spherical bearings for long service life. FOX backs this coilover with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This coilover fits the Ford Ranger T6 platform only, in the front position, at the specific years, submodels, and drivetrain combinations listed in the fitment table above. It does not fit the 2019+ North American Ford Ranger. Fitment differs by drivetrain and trim within the same model year: several 2015-2017 trims fit Hi-Rider (raised-height 2WD) models only, while other trims in the same years fit all T6 models regardless of ride height. Verify your exact submodel and drive type against the table above before ordering, as this SKU does not cover 2WD non-Hi-Rider Ranger trims.
