The FOX 983-02-087 is a 2.0 Performance Series Coil-Over IFP shock for the front position, delivering 4.59 inches of travel and a 0-2 inch front lift range for 2005-2014 Toyota Fortuner and 2005-2016 Toyota Hilux models.
IMPORTANT: This part number fits the Toyota Hilux and Fortuner platforms sold outside North America and is not compatible with the North American market Toyota Tacoma or 4Runner. Front lift is limited to 0-2 inches only; FOX offers separate coilover part numbers for other lift heights, so confirm your intended ride height falls within this range before ordering. This shock is sold individually, not as a pair.
The FOX 2.0 Performance Series Coil-Over IFP shock is a bolt-on unit designed to level the front of the truck front-to-rear with no modifications required, reusing the factory shock mounting points. It is built for trucks running stock ride height as well as trucks lifted within the listed range.
Inside the shock is an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) mono-tube design that separates the shock oil from a high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber. This eliminates oil aeration, allowing the factory-tuned, application-specific valving to deliver consistent, predictable damping on-road and off-road.
Locking, spring preload rings allow easy adjustment of ride height and spring preload while retaining a racing-grade coil spring selected for the correct spring rate. The vehicle-specific upper mount uses a composite bushing that isolates noise and vibration from the cabin.
The shock body is a 2.0″ impact-extruded and CNC-machined 6061-T6 one-piece aluminum body with a clear-anodized finish that resists rust and increases cooling capacity. The shaft is 5/8″ hard chrome plated, heat-treated alloy steel, and the shock uses large-diameter, heavy-duty spherical bearings with a redundant sealing pack (main seal, wiper seal, scraper seal).
