FOX® part number 985-02-020 is a 2.0 Performance Series IFP coilover shock for the front of diesel-powered Ram 1500 4WD trucks, built for stock ride height up to a 2in front lift, covering 2014-2019 model years and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. Trim-level coverage varies by year within this span — Lone Star is not covered past 2017, SXT only in 2015, and Sport only in 2018.
IMPORTANT: This shock is engineered specifically for diesel-powered Ram 1500 trucks WITHOUT factory Air Ride suspension — it is not compatible with Air Ride-equipped trucks or with gas-powered trucks. This SKU uses an Eyelet lower mount, which differs from the Clevis lower mount used on the gas-application siblings. For gas-powered Ram 1500 trucks (2006-2023, spanning three model eras), use FOX® part number 983-02-050. For the redesigned 2019+ Ram 1500 (DT platform), use FOX® part number 985-02-136.
This FOX® 2.0 Performance Series Coil-Over IFP shock is a bolt-on replacement that requires no modifications and is designed to level the front of the truck front-to-rear while re-using the stock upper shock mount. The vehicle-specific upper mount uses a composite bushing to isolate noise and vibration, and the shock retains a top-quality racing coil spring selected to deliver the correct spring rate for this application.
Inside the shock, an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) mono-tube design keeps the shock oil separated from the high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber. Keeping the oil and gas separate prevents oil aeration, so the factory-tuned, application-specific valving keeps performing consistently under hard use rather than fading as the shock heats up.
The shock body is an impact-extruded, CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum one-piece design with a clear-anodized finish that resists corrosion and dissipates heat faster than a comparable steel body. Internal components are black-anodized, CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the shaft is hard chrome-plated heat-treated alloy steel, and the shock rides on large-diameter, heavy-duty spherical bearings with a redundant seal pack (main seal, wiper seal, scraper seal). FOX® backs this shock with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Trim coverage is not uniform across this span — Lone Star drops off after 2017, SXT appears only in 2015, and Sport only in 2018 — so confirm your specific year/trim before ordering. Do not order this part for gas-powered trucks (use FOX® 983-02-050) or for the redesigned 2019+ Ram 1500 DT platform (use FOX® 985-02-136) — these use a Clevis lower mount and different valving and are not interchangeable with this SKU.
