The FOX® 2.0 Performance Series Front Coilover IFP Shock (983-02-051) is a bolt-on front coilover with a race-developed coil spring and locking preload rings, engineered for 0″-2″ of front lift on 2010-2024 Toyota 4Runner, 2010-2021 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and 2009-2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (J150).
IMPORTANT: This SKU ships with a new race-developed coil spring and locking, adjustable preload rings, allowing you to dial in 0″, 1″, or 2″ of front lift without sourcing a separate spring. A companion SKU, FOX® 985-62-001, covers the same 4Runner and FJ Cruiser years at the same 0″-2″ front lift range but reuses your factory coil spring and mounting hardware instead of including a new one — confirm which kit you need before ordering, as they are not interchangeable in the box. FJ Cruiser coverage for model years 2015-2021 applies to UAE/export-spec vehicles only, as FJ Cruiser was not sold new in the US market past 2014. Land Cruiser Prado is not and has never been sold in the US; this application is included for export-market buyers.
This impact-extruded, CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum coilover body increases cooling capacity over a stock shock while resisting corrosion. The vehicle-specific upper mount uses a composite bushing to isolate noise and vibration, and the coilover bolts on with no cutting, drilling, or fabrication required.
Inside, an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) monotube design separates the shock oil from a high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber. This eliminates oil aeration under hard use, letting the factory-tuned, application-specific valving perform consistently whether you’re driving on-road or working the suspension hard off-road.
The shock body, top cap, and preload rings are CNC-machined from black-anodized 6061-T6 billet aluminum for long-term durability. A 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel shaft rides through a redundant sealing pack (main seal, wiper seal, scraper seal) and large-diameter, heavy-duty spherical bearings. FOX® backs this shock with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
