The FOX® 980-24-944 is a 2.0 Performance Series front smooth-body shock with external reservoir, built for Dodge Ram 1500 (1994-2001, 2006-2008), Dodge Ram 2500 (1994-2010) and Ram 2500 (2011-2013), and Dodge Ram 3500 (1994-2010) and Ram 3500 (2011-2013) trucks, sold individually.
IMPORTANT: This part number’s fitment table spans a manufacturer make change on the 2500 and 3500 — trucks are listed as Dodge Ram through 2010 and as Ram (Dodge dropped from the make) from 2011 onward; 1500 coverage on this SKU stays under Dodge Ram only (1994-2001 and 2006-2008, no Ram-branded 1500). Front lift-height compatibility is also not uniform across the full model range. Dodge Ram 2500 (1994-2010) and Ram 2500 (2011-2013), and Dodge Ram 3500 (1994-2010) and Ram 3500 (2011-2013), are covered at a flat 0″-2″ front lift throughout. This shock replaces the front shock on Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Ram/Ram 2500, and Dodge Ram/Ram 3500 trucks (1994-2013) with a bolt-on, hassle-free upgrade built around FOX®’s aluminum-bodied Performance Series platform, aimed at drivers who want race-proven damping control without the complexity of a fully adjustable shock.
The shock body is 2.0″ impact-extruded 6061-T6 aluminum with a clear-anodized finish, which dissipates heat faster than a conventional steel-body shock and resists corrosion over time. The external reservoir increases oil and nitrogen capacity, improving heat management and consistency under repeated off-road loading.
Internally, a race-developed high-flow piston is matched to application-specific valving, delivering predictable, fade-resistant damping over rough terrain. A redundant sealing pack — main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal — protects the shaft and keeps contaminants out. The black-anodized, CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum components are backed by FOX®’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
