Description

The FOX® 980-24-956 2.0 Performance Series Rear Shock is an aluminum-bodied, application-specific reservoir shock built for 1999-2019 Chevrolet, GMC, and Hummer H2 trucks and SUVs running 3.5″-6.5″ or 4″-6″ of lift depending on model, and includes a black-anodized billet aluminum reservoir mounting clamp.

IMPORTANT: Required lift height varies by model. The 2002-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 requires 3.5″-6.5″ of lift. All other covered Chevrolet, GMC, and Hummer models listed in the Fitment section below require 4″-6″ of lift. This shock is valved and tuned for the specific vehicle application listed – confirm your exact year, make, and model against the Fitment section before ordering. This shock is sold individually; purchase two units for a complete rear pair.

This is a bolt-on, hassle-free upgrade over the factory rear shock. The 2.0″ impact-extruded 6061-T6 aluminum shock body is clear-anodized for a durable finish and dissipates heat faster than a conventional steel-bodied shock, helping maintain consistent damping performance under sustained off-road or towing loads.

The external reservoir increases oil and nitrogen capacity over a standard shock, giving the damper more consistent performance during extended, aggressive use. The reservoir clamp and other components are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and black-anodized. A race-developed, high-flow damping piston is matched with application-specific valving to deliver predictable, controlled ride quality over rough terrain.

Internally, the shock uses a redundant sealing pack system – main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal – paired with a 5/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel shaft for long service life. FOX® backs the 2.0 Performance Series shock with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
