The FOX 985-24-016 is a Performance Series 2.0 Reservoir rear shock absorber built for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models running 1.5″-3.5″ of lift. This is an aluminum-bodied, bolt-on rear shock sold individually.
IMPORTANT: This shock is sold individually — one shock per box. A complete rear axle replacement requires two units. This is a rear-specific application only; it is not compatible with front shock mounting points and is designed for vehicles running 1.5″ to 3.5″ of lift. It is not intended for stock-height (0″ lift) applications.
The Performance Series 2.0 Reservoir shock delivers FOX’s race-developed damping performance in a bolt-on package. Its 2.0″ impact-extruded 6061-T6 aluminum body is clear-anodized for a durable finish and dissipates heat faster than a conventional steel-body shock, helping maintain consistent damping performance under sustained off-road use.
The external reservoir increases oil and nitrogen capacity over a standard smooth-body shock, adding damping capacity and control on rough terrain. The reservoir mounting clamp and other components are black-anodized, CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, and the shock includes a billet reservoir mounting clamp.
A 5/8″ hard chrome plated, heat-treated alloy steel shaft pairs with a race-developed high-flow damping piston and application-specific valving for predictable ride quality. A redundant sealing pack system — main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal — protects against contamination. The shock uses a bar pin top mount and eyelet bottom mount, and is backed by FOX’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
