Part number 883-26-167 is the FOX® 2.5 Performance Elite Series rear shock pair with Dual Speed Compression (DSC) adjustment, built for 2016-2026 Toyota Hilux models running 0-2 inch of rear lift.
IMPORTANT: This kit is the REAR pair only. The matching FOX® front kit for this Performance Elite Series application is sold separately under part number 883-06-235 (2-3 inch lift, requires upper control arm). Do not confuse this SKU with the FOX® Performance Series 2.5 rear shocks for the same Hilux platform, which use an internal floating piston (IFP) instead of an external DSC reservoir and are sold under 987-24-053 (0-1 inch lift) or 987-24-071 (1-2 inch lift) – those are non-adjustable and not interchangeable with this listing. FOX® direct-replacement shocks must be installed as a matched pair, and installation requires a qualified technician with a chassis lift due to the gas-charged internal pressure of the shock body. A post-installation wheel alignment is required to prevent premature tire wear.
This shock pair replaces the factory rear dampers on the Hilux with a remote-reservoir design tuned for both on-road comfort and off-road control. Each shock mounts via eyelet top and bottom connections directly to the factory locations, with no aftermarket brackets required at the rear.
The 2.5-inch shock body is Type III hard anodized to resist corrosion and wear over the life of the product. The external reservoir increases total oil capacity compared to a standard monotube design, which reduces the harshness associated with nitrogen ramp-up as the shock nears full compression and helps maintain consistent damping under sustained off-road use.
Damping is user-adjustable through the DSC (Dual Speed Compression) adjuster mounted on each reservoir, providing independent tuning of low-speed and high-speed compression circuits to match terrain and load. The reservoir is mounted to face the rear of the vehicle with hoses routed toward the center, positioned to clear aggressive tire sizes at full steering lock. FOX® backs this shock pair with a 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from date of original retail purchase.
