Part number 987-24-054 is the FOX® 2.5 Performance Series Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) rear shock for 2005-2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty 4WD trucks running 0-1.5 inch of rear lift, with 10.79 inches of travel.
IMPORTANT: This is a 2.5 inch body shock, a larger diameter than the FOX® 2.0 Performance Series rear shocks (part numbers 985-24-150 and 985-24-174) used on the 2017-2026 F-250/F-350 platform. This part number is built for the 2005-2016 Super Duty generation only and does not fit 2017 and newer trucks. Confirm your truck’s model year and lift height before ordering.
The FOX® 2.5 Performance Series HTO shock is a bolt-on shock built with position-sensitive technology, vehicle-specific valving, and a larger piston to improve both on-road and off-road performance. The 2.5 inch impact-extruded 6061-T6 aluminum body is Type II clear-anodized, efficiently dissipating heat and resisting corrosion, while an internal floating piston (IFP) separates the shock oil from the high-pressure nitrogen charge to optimize damping consistency.
Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) technology provides usable, position-sensitive rebound damping control both on and off pavement. As the shock nears full extension, HTO forces oil through a secondary shim stack to slow shaft speed, reducing harsh top-outs and improving ride comfort, a benefit particularly noticeable after installing heavier, more aggressive tires or running a lift height above OEM specification.
The 5/8 inch shaft is hard chrome plated and heat-treated for durability, and the shock uses high-flow, velocity-sensitive damping to maintain predictable control across a wide range of terrain and load conditions. The shock is backed by the FOX® Limited Lifetime Warranty.
