FOX part number 883-26-089 is the 2.5 Performance Elite Series DSC Reservoir front shock pair, designed for the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler JK with 0″-2″ of lift, featuring 9.48″ of travel, a 2.5″ aluminum body, and an external dual-speed compression (DSC) reservoir – sold as a set of 2.
IMPORTANT: This shock is calibrated specifically for vehicles with 0″-2″ of lift. Do not use on Wranglers lifted beyond 2″. FOX offers separate Performance Elite SKUs for higher lift ranges – confirm your lift height before ordering.
The FOX 2.5 Performance Elite Series brings race-derived suspension technology to bolt-on truck and SUV applications. These shocks are engineered from the same platform as FOX’s off-road race products and refined through competition use, delivering a substantial upgrade in ride quality, control, and damping performance over OEM shocks – without requiring custom fabrication.
The external DSC reservoir separates the compression adjuster from the main shock body, allowing for independent tuning of low-speed and high-speed compression damping. This gives drivers the ability to dial in ride comfort for daily driving while maintaining the control needed when the trail gets rough. The external canister also increases oil and nitrogen capacity over a standard smooth body shock, reducing heat buildup during sustained off-road use.
Construction uses a 2.5″ impact-extruded and CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum body with a hard-anodized finish for corrosion resistance. The 7/8″ shaft is hard chrome plated from heat-treated alloy steel, riding on a PTFE-lined spherical bearing. The redundant sealing pack – main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal – keeps contaminants out and oil in. A reservoir bracket is included for clean installation.
