The FOX® 2.5 Performance Elite Series takes its engineering directly from FOX’s off-road race program, delivering a significant step up in damping performance over factory suspension. The 2.5″ aluminum body provides substantially more oil and nitrogen capacity than a standard monotube or twin-tube shock, which translates to greater heat resistance and more consistent damping over extended rough-road use. The external reservoir extends that capacity further, allowing the shock to shed heat and maintain performance through sustained off-pavement driving where lesser shocks begin to fade.
The Performance Elite Series uses an application-specific, race-developed high-flow piston paired with FOX’s application-specific valving to tune the damping curve precisely for the weight and geometry of the Silverado and Sierra HD platform. The 7/8″ hard chrome-plated, heat-treated alloy steel shaft resists bending and corrosion under the high side loads these trucks generate. A redundant sealing pack — main seal, wiper seal, and scraper seal — keeps contaminants out and oil in over the long term, even in mud, sand, and water crossings.
The DSC (Dual Speed Compression) adjuster on the reservoir cap allows the driver to tune the compression damping character without removing the shock, providing a simple way to firm up the ride for on-road driving or soften it for trail use. The body is constructed from impact-extruded and CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum with a hard-anodized finish that resists rust and corrosion. Components are black-anodized, CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum, and bearings are PTFE-lined, heat-treated alloy steel spherical units. FOX backs the 2.5 Performance Elite Series purchased after March 30, 2025 with a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use on the designed vehicle application.
