Description

Part number 987-24-038 is a FOX® 2.5 Performance Series smooth body shock with an internal floating piston (IFP), Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) technology, 8.09in of travel, and eyelet mounts on both ends, built for universal off-road and suspension applications.

IMPORTANT: This is a 2.5in-body shock, not the 2.0in-body FOX® Performance Series reservoir shocks – the two product lines are not interchangeable and do not share mounting hardware or dimensions. This shock has no external reservoir and no compression damping adjuster; per FOX®, the 2.5 Performance Series is designed to deliver 2.5in-shock performance without a reservoir or external adjuster. FOX® does not publish vehicle-specific fitment for this universal shock, so confirm the 8.09in travel and 24.28in extended / 16.19in compressed lengths against your application’s mounting points before ordering.

This FOX® 2.5 Performance Series shock is a bolt-on unit loaded with position-sensitive technology, vehicle-specific valving, and a larger piston than the smaller-body shocks in the FOX® lineup, aimed at improving both on-road and off-road performance. A Type II anodized aluminum body efficiently dissipates heat and resists corrosion.

The 2.5in shock body uses an internal floating piston (IFP) to separate the shock oil from the pressurized nitrogen charge, keeping damping consistent as the shock heats up and cycles through its travel.

Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) technology provides position-sensitive rebound damping control both on and off pavement. HTO reduces harsh top-outs and improves ride comfort by routing shock oil through a secondary shim stack to slow shaft speed near full extension – a benefit FOX® notes is particularly useful after installing heavier, more aggressive tires or lifting a vehicle higher than OEM specification.

The shaft is 5/8in hard chrome-plated steel. This shock is backed by the FOX® limited lifetime warranty.

  • Universal-application FOX® 2.5 Performance Series smooth body shock, 8.09in travel, eyelet top mount and eyelet bottom mount
  • Internal floating piston (IFP) separates shock oil from the nitrogen charge for consistent damping
  • Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) piston provides position-sensitive rebound damping and reduces harsh top-outs

This is a universal-application FOX® 2.5 Performance Series shock, not tied to a specific make or model – match it to your build by travel (8.09in), extended/compressed length, and eyelet-to-eyelet mounting configuration. This is a 2.5in-body shock with IFP/HTO technology and no reservoir – it is not interchangeable with the 2.0in-body FOX® Performance Series reservoir shocks, which use different mounting dimensions and a separate part number range.
